Here's a brisk early morning looking out onto the apron at @shannon_airport sometime ago; right after we peeled ourselves out of the lounge ahead of a very quick 1 day break (talk about efficiency) to London.

Ireland isn't exactly a haven for the "miles and points" collectors crowd, but this flight did see us both graduate to @aerlingus AerClub Silver, so at least we'll see a few more lounges - and associated cocktail hours 🤣 - for the next year.

Window seat views still can't be beat - even if, admittedly, I rarely deliver myself to a check in counter to obnoxiusly declare "Window Seat Preferred" (or, even to a check in counter generally) like I did when I first had the idea for this account name 😂

📷 Another week, another business class cabin! From #Singapore to #AbuDhabi, here's what we got on Etihad's slightly older business class back in August!

- Love nothing more than when a champagne turns up beside my seat with welcome haste 🥂
- Seats to suit everyone; tucked in by the window, check; beside each other in the middle, check; closer to the aisle and still relatively private, check. ✅️
- The chair had literally a billion options. There's a good chance beyond the massage, softness, hardness and other options, it nearly could have cooked a meal for you as well. 💺

- No privacy doors - though to be honest, the design is still very private and I didn't really care or notice. There's also a privacy divider between seats in the middle.
- But OMG, the service was painfully slow on this flight - the meal came about halfway through the flight, while I eventually ran out of patience and abandoned the idea of dessert. Didn't happen on the other 3, so putting this one down to new/uninterested crew. 🤷‍♂️

Doesn't this seem like an ideal place to knock back a drink - or several, before getting some in-flight rest?

The Atomium, on the outskirts of Brussels, was built for the 1958 Brussels World Fair, and - I can assure you personally - is still a very well visited tourist attraction today.

On a hot day though, bring water and cold face cloths because that aircon was NOT happening inside 🤣😱

We hit the jackpot - and everyone knows how much of a cynic I am and how difficult it is to be impressed - with the Maca Villas & Spa in Seminyak, our home for the few nights.

We had a private pool, in-room breakfast every morning, and a villa large enough you could host a whopper party!

We finally got to visit a few weeks ago (for a traditional #windowseatpreferred one night trip) and unusually for all the hype, it was well worth it - it really is that beautiful!

📷 From #Dublin to #AbuDhabi, we lucked out with the very fancy business class cabin, on the new(-ish) A350 from @etihad
Here's my thoughts....

- Privacy anyone? Loads of it. And that door closes in-flight. Goodbye World...
- All the space! Sure you said goodbye world, but look at all the legroom, entertainment (and from experience, drinks) you could ever need.
- What a classy cabin - I've rarely thought I'd like my kitchen to look like an airplane cabin, but this one...hmm yep probably.
.

- Too much to eat and drink in such a short flight to really enjoy the sleep (which was also great, btw).
- Not the plane's fault, but current Abu Dhabi airport is in critical, urgent need of expansion.
- That's pretty much all the downsides, so here's another bullet point purely for balance.

After a delightful etihad Business Class experience (and accompanying phone-losing, drink-fuelled good time) back from KL, there was absolutely nothing quite like some fresh air and ocean views to set us straight. ...ish 😂

What's your post-flight routine like? Do you need to get out in the air, do some exercise or - ugh - actually go and unpack everything?

Full disclosure; this pic is from Dublin so unpacking wasn't an option as we still had to endure the most terrifying part of the journey, my sleep-deprived driving skills for 2 hours back home to Limerick.

We seriously lucked out with the weather (which was hideous about 2 hours before) on this amazing helicopter trip over the Irish west coast last weekend!

I don't know about you, but I find it impossible to just sit at home after being away on a trip - thankfully @isha_aquaphile found this helicopter trip from Spanish Point literally happening a day later 🤣 Talk about ways to combat boredom 😂

Love A Sunset 🌞

Even though we absolutely love a good sunset; our driver wasn't a big fan (of anything that didn't involve his own ideas, generally) and so we only got down to Petitenget Beach once in the whole 4 days!
.
Bali is (and could be even more) absolutely beautiful - but as you'll have seen from my stories, Bali is absolutely slammed at the moment with tourism, starting with the airport and continuing to every 'sight' with barely any space to move and definitely none to stand around and enjoy anything for a few moments.
.
To be honest, I'd avoid it for now until - hopefully - the post-covid hype dies down a bit. Look out for a review on the blog soon (link in bio, natch!).

Even this sunset required multiple moving around the beach to try to have a view without the hordes in the way 🤣

Seemingly this was from exactly 17 years ago 😱 Trust me, it came as a sad shock to me too that I was even alive and travelling that long ago 😬

Anyway, here is a really beautiful view out from an island off the coast of Belize from when - I assure you - I was very young 🤣
.
What I can say about this picture though, it came right after daydrinking and right before running out of fuel on the boat back to the mainland. What an enjoyable 3 hours it was drifting closer to shore while waiting to have phone signal to call for help. As I say, 17 years ago.
Aaaand we'll take this late teen story no further 🙄
