Highlights;
- Room was literally the size of a good apartment. We could literally allocate one wardrobe per item of clothing, and that's before we get to the living room or separate bedroom.
- Champagne afternoon tea! As you all know, I've never met a glass of champagne I didn't like...
- Gardens; hey, it can't be all pool time and champagne. We rented the complimentary bikes and burnt off at least 1/18th of breakfast...maybe.

📸 More #Throwback material I'm afraid, from our super cheap and rapid trip to Pulau Pangkor back in 2020 - when we naively thought we should do a staycation in case travelling was getting a bit "dodgy". Little did we know...
.
Overall, this island was quite pretty, but 1 night/2 days was probably enough; it gets super quiet, the monkeys are incredibly aggressive and we didn't really get the memo in advance that the vibe was more about seafood than the beaches or really anything else.
.
Also, of particular sadness to myself, duty free status hadn't yet been conferred but was a few weeks away.
.
All the same, we did get around and see a few things on our rapid-fire tour of the island, and indulge in a fight with the local monkeys to have our belongings returned 😂

📷 This day 4 years ago, I - very much going for Son of the Year award - flew home from KL to Ireland for 3 nights to surprise my mother for her birthday 🤷‍♂️😁
.
Not only did this pretty much turn out to be the last international trip (hey, it was early 2020 after all...) for a very long time, aside from actually moving back to Ireland entirely in June 2020, it was also the last time I flew BA33/34 to and from KL to Heathrow, before it became an as-yet unrestored pandemic casualty.
.
On the return home, I even got a - serendipitous, and very well-timed - gate upgrade to BA's Club World, where I proceeded to get invited to a house party by my very over-talkative - and increasingly inebriated - seatmate 'Lang' (wonder where he is now), while reading in the paper the news about an emerging 'bug' in China - which I presumed would have no impact on our 2020 travel plans. Woops, turns out that was very wrong...
.
Tomorrow - this day last year, which was another day of travel and arguably even more dramatic...😂

Here's a brisk early morning looking out onto the apron at @shannon_airport sometime ago; right after we peeled ourselves out of the lounge ahead of a very quick 1 day break (talk about efficiency) to London.

Ireland isn't exactly a haven for the "miles and points" collectors crowd, but this flight did see us both graduate to @aerlingus AerClub Silver, so at least we'll see a few more lounges - and associated cocktail hours 🤣 - for the next year.
