By virtue of travelling Aer Lingus’ short-haul “kinda nearly but not” business class product, AerSpace, we were eligible – and I was very keen – to sample the Aer Lingus Lounge at London Heathrow Terminal 2.

There is, at the time of writing, I believe only one other Aer Lingus owned and operated lounge, and as you’d expect, that’s at their home in Dublin Airport.

Approaching the lounge on the far right after clearing security at Heathrow Terminal 2, there’s an interesting comparison to be made in terms of just how much more homely and attractive the Aer Lingus Lounge looks from the outside (despite the gigantic ‘Lounge A2’ signage) when viewed right alongside the neighbouring Lufthansa lounge – which looks incredibly stiff and dull.

The Aer Lingus lounge on the other hand has a faux-stone wall look to the outside, before opening up to a lounge that, at first glance, looks and feels very familiar to any passenger who has spent time in the Dublin lounge before.

The area opens up immediately to a wide expanse of familiar green and charcoal seating, tables, and the occasional deep pile green rug. If you didn’t know better and but for the lack of an ‘upstairs’, you’d think you might’ve just arrived in Dublin right away.

To the end, on the right hand-side are a number of relaxing chair and footstool combos where you can sit back, relax and – at least try to – look out in between the awkward metal grilles installed on the floor-to-ceiling windows to see outdoors at all the activity (unfortunately, it is a bit tricky to get a good view outside, as you can see in the picture).

Meanwhile, to the left of the lounge as you enter, there’s a set of bathrooms – including the same Voya products you’ll find both in the Dublin lounge, and on board in business class in the amenity kits.

Further on inside, again to the left, you’ll find a small self-serve pantry area with soft and alcoholic beverages (at least there was a few bottles of wine knocking around) along with a very limited selection of food – really probably more snacks. I wouldn’t necessarily come knocking with hopes for a full meal, but you should find something to snack on and definitely something to drink.

Overall, this lounge just reminded me overwhelmingly of its counterpart in Dublin and – while I wouldn’t race to the airport any earlier than entirely needed – was a very pleasant way to spend what, due to a delay, became a few hours. And, another plus point for booking an Aer Lingus Advantage or AerSpace fare!
